The Scottish Association of Motor Sports Clubs (SAMSC) has achieved a significant milestone by gaining Motorsport UK’s Sustainability Accreditation, underlining its commitment to building a greener future for motorsport in Scotland.
This recognition highlights the steps SAMSC and its member Clubs are taking to reduce environmental impact, encourage sustainable practices, and ensure that motorsport continues to thrive in a responsible way for generations to come.
What the Accreditation means
Motorsport UK’s Sustainability Accreditation is awarded to organisations that can demonstrate practical, measurable efforts to operate more sustainably. For SAMSC, this includes:
- Supporting Clubs to adopt environmentally friendly practices at events
- Promoting responsible use of resources across Scottish motorsport
- Building awareness among competitors, volunteers, and fans about sustainability in motorsport
- Aligning with Motorsport UK’s wider vision for a net zero future
- Leading the way in Scottish motorsport
By achieving this accreditation, SAMSC not only joins a growing number of accredited Clubs and organisations but also sets an example for others in the sport to follow. It shows that motorsport can be exciting, competitive, and community-driven while also being environmentally responsible.
“We’re incredibly proud to gain Motorsport UK’s Sustainability Accreditation. It reflects the hard work of our Clubs and volunteers, and it’s an important step in ensuring that motorsport in Scotland is both vibrant and sustainable long into the future.”
Rupert Hine, Chair, SAMSC
Looking ahead
The journey doesn’t stop here. SAMSC will continue to work with Motorsport UK, Clubs, and local communities to improve sustainability across all levels of the sport – from grassroots events to national championships.
This accreditation is more than a badge of honour. It’s a promise: to protect the environment while keeping the thrill of motorsport alive.
