SUMMARY:SAMSC Club Development Day
DESCRIPTION:Building stronger Clubs starts with investing in the people behind them. The Scottish Association of Motor Sports Clubs is delighted to present the 2026 Club Development Day\, including the Association’s Annual General Meeting and an opportunity to hear from\, and discuss the future of Motorsport with Motorsport UK’s Chief Executive Hugh Chambers. \nThe SAMSC Club Development Day is a hands-on\, practical event designed to help you sharpen skills\, share ideas\, and take useful tools back to your Club. Whether you are running a committee\, delivering events\, supporting volunteers\, or telling your Club’s story\, this day is about building confidence\, providing clarity\, and creating momentum. You can choose the workshops that matter most to you\, mix and match across different streams\, and shape a development journey that fits your role and interests. This is an ideal opportunity for members of club committees\, events organising teams or members who might want to get engaged in club or event development work to develop their skills. \nExpect practical sessions\, honest conversations\, and templates you can use straight away. You will leave with clearer plans\, stronger connections\, and actionable ideas to help your Club thrive and grow motorsport within your community. \nOne day. Multiple streams. Practical outcomes. Let’s build skills\, strengthen Clubs\, and grow motorsport together. \nThe Club Development Day starts at 9am\, and runs to 5pm with lunch and refreshments provided. The AGM will follow after a short break at 5.30pm\, with opportunities to reflect on activity and turn discussion into action. \nWe are pleased to welcome Hugh Chambers\, Motorsport UK’s Chief Executive\, who will deliver a state of the nation update and answer your questions about where motorsport is now and where it is heading. This will follow the AGM after which dinner will be served making this an ideal opportunity to network and socialise with people from across the motorsport community. Hugh and the SAMSC Management Team will be joined by other colleagues from Motorsport UK to talk about Club development and the range of accreditations available. \nThe Club Development Day is a significant investment in Clubs across Scotland with workstreams on Running Your Club\, for committee members\, officers and anyone interested in governance\, leadership and long term planning; on Running Your Event\, for event organisers\, volunteers\, marshals and anyone involved in delivering safe successful events; and on Promoting Your Club and Events\, for members focused on communications\, sponsorship\, engagement and growing participation. We will be delighted to welcome as many of your members to the event as possible\, although voting at the AGM will of course be limited to the nominated representatives of your club. Your Association has been able to put together the funding to cover the majority of the investment for this event\, we have been able to offer the full Club Development Day\, including the evening session and dinner for only £17 per person. Further details of the individual sessions within each workstream will be available over the next few days\, in the meantime this is the opportunity to identify who in your club will benefit most from the day. \nRegister at https://forms.gle/cjQMj9vM4m9ZTTXL6 \nShare this:

SUMMARY:Training Webinar - Introduction to Navigation and Targa Rallies
DESCRIPTION:Motorsport has many disciplines\, all with slightly different rules\, regulations and things that marshals need to be aware of for the event to run safely. \nNavigation rallies take place on public roads in more or less standard cars\, usually in the hours of darkness. Navigational rallies are often referred to as “road rallies”\, but strictly speaking there are some differences in the rules. \nWhen it comes to ‘smiles per mile’ it’s hard to beat competing in a Targa Rally\, one of the fastest growing and most entertaining ways to have some excitement in your standard everyday car. You don’t need any training or special equipment – just the burning desire to have some great fun on four wheels. \nThis online session looks at what you need to be aware of in this particular discipline. It will be suitable for those wanting to get involved as a motorsport marshal\, as well as being useful for anyone looking for a bit of a refresher. \nThis is one of our bi-monthly online sessions on a range of more informal topics. SUMMARY:Scottish Motorsport Club Development Day
DESCRIPTION:Scottish Motorsport Club Development Day \nThe biggest risk to motor clubs and events is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. A bit like out on the track\, if you keep driving at the same speed you always have done\, others will be coming past you as they get faster. In today’s marketplace where disposable income is more difficult to find\, keeping your club developing has never been harder. \nTo support you and your club\, the Scottish Association of Motor Sports Clubs is hosting a Club Development Day on Saturday 9th March 2024 at the Stirling Court Hotel. During the day you will: \n\nHear the latest news from Motorsport UK Chief Executive Hugh Chambers as well as Director of Sporting and Safety John Ryan\, and Head of Club Development Claire Kirkpatrick. During the open discussion you will have the opportunity to raise the issues challenging your club with the Motorsport UK Executives and hear what they\, and your Regional Association\, are doing to help you tackle them.\nLearn how to attract new members\, retain existing members\, and grow your club.\nDiscuss how to get the best from your club or event organising committee so that your committee members are more engaged\, productive\, and eager to contribute.\nWalk away with new ways to attract competitors and volunteers and increase the visibility of your club.\nIncrease your understanding of some of the sources of grant aid available and how to make successful applications for funding.\nShare techniques for running your club and events efficiently and effectively in 2024 and beyond.\n\nThis fully interactive day will see you walk away with tangible ideas and techniques that you can apply immediately and which will increase your club and event’s success. With a combination of motorsport and external facilitators\, and even some surprise guests\, this will be a day not to be missed. \nThis day is aimed at everyone who is involved in running a club\, organising events\, or has aspirations to do so. With limited places\, make sure you register early to avoid disappointment! Lunch and refreshments provided – free to members of SAMSC Member Clubs. \nRegister at https://forms.gle/q7yPKYSLwmW6hj7d6 \nShare this:

SUMMARY:Training Webinar - Disability in Motorsport
DESCRIPTION:Motorsport offers equal opportunities at all levels and having a disability doesn’t mean that you can’t be involved. As long as you can show you are competent\, safe and medically fit behind the wheel\, there is no reason why you can’t compete. If you’d rather be helping and watching\, volunteer marshals and officials get the best seat in the house (apart from the drivers obviously) and there are duties to suit everyone\, almost irrespective of age\, gender or disability. \nJoin this session with representatives from Disability Motorsport Scotland\, the only charity in Scotland that is working to increase understanding of disability as well as challenging attitudes towards disability. Find out more about how to remove barriers for people with a disability and those with long-term health conditions\, and ensure that they have the opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations. \nThis is one of our bi-monthly online sessions on a range of less formal topics.
